About The Project

Project Aims

To define the needs of senior citizens in all participating countries by detecting the level of competence of seniors, to map the most common online transactions in each country as well as to reveal the reasons hindering senior citizens from using and trusting online procedures.

To develop high quality capacity building learning material for senior citizens, designed specifically to meet their needs as far as their online transactions are concerned.

Background

COVID-19 brought many changes to our lives, causing serious and unprecedented problems. Since the onset of the COVID-19 crisis, there has been a huge change in the banking sector, mainly related to cashless payments, either in the form of contactless card payments or bank transfers via eBanking. On a similar scale, more and more stores and restaurants have been forced to tap into their e-commerce potential, as the need for online ordering has seen an increase to the detriment of physical shopping. Despite the positive effect this strategy has had in curtailing pandemics, the overall practicality of Internet banking and online payments in the modern era has been given short shrift. In addition, the elderly have unfortunately also been overlooked and are therefore forced to ask their children or even grandchildren for help, thus suffering twice as much.

To develop high quality capacity building learning material for senior citizens, designed specifically to meet their needs as far as their online transactions are concerned.
